  1. Did you hear what some of the proponents of these cuts are saying? From what I understand, they are for the cuts because they believe that it is the churches responsibilty to take care of impoverished, neglected, abused and unguided people of the world.

To These people who support cutting the budget to social programs, I say, ‘please go spit on the Statue of Liberty, because, obviously, it means nothing to you.’

“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”

Now, I know this doesn’t necessarily mean that our government is to take care of the tired and poor and support them and what not.. But it should mean something to our government that people are on the street starving
to death and living in cardboard boxes. Sure, churches might be able to do more, despite the fact that they do an awful lot. However, I think it’s obvious that our government certainly doesn’t have the needs of the people on their mind like they should. ‘No child left behind’ is a joke. How about, ‘No person left hungry’
or ‘No person left homeless’ or ‘No person left hungry, sick, dying and left to eat out of the dumpsters of
    filthy rich bigots’.

Maybe when our government and all other people, finally realize that money is at the root of all evil and comes to the conclusion
that that is a bad thing, things will finally start to get a little better.

Sure, money buys things which is great. But how about instead of buying that 2 thousand dollar watch, you buy a 50 dollar one
and give the rest of that money to an organization that can help out humanity.

  2. thanks for bringing attention to this. I wish I knew more of what was really going on and I wish I followed those little small-voiced convictions that say, “umm … this is important. DO SOMETHING!”

keep us updated on this – I’ll try to stay abreast of the situations as well!

  3. The leader of this group (who was among those arrested) is a guy named Jim Wallis. He’s written a book called “God’s Politics” that I’ve heard some really good things about. I haven’t picked it up myself yet, but with a subtitle like “Why the Right Gets It Wrong and the Left Doesn’t Get It” it’s gotta be intriguing.
